Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria ink deal to clear floating Black Sea mines

Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria signed an agreement to form a trilateral initiative to clear mines in the Black Sea resulting from the war in Ukraine. Sea mines have threatened Ukraine's export routes since Russia's invasion. The initiative will involve three minehunting ships from each country, and Turkey welcomes potential contributions from non-Black Sea NATO allies. Turkey also emphasized adherence to the Montreux Convention and is working with the UN, Ukraine, and Russia to revive the Black Sea grain initiative.
