27 migrants die off Tunisia, 83 rescued, in shipwrecks: Civil defence

Twenty-seven migrants, including women and children, died after two boats capsized near Tunisia's Kerkennah Islands. Eighty-three people were rescued, with ongoing searches for the missing. The migrants, from sub-Saharan Africa, were attempting to reach Europe. In 2023, between 600 and 700 migrants have been reported dead or missing in Tunisian waters.
